Farming & contracting

F.H. Easton Ltd are arable farmers in South Norfolk. We also offer our farming services to other growers for contract. Our farm grows wheat, rapeseed, barley, oats and sugar beet which is sold on for a variety of uses in the food chain. We sustain a number of farming jobs in the local area and support the local agricultural and allied trades’ supply chain with our business.

Our produce and practices are Red Tractor assured. We are also members of the NIAB TAG network and NFU. Our spray operators are trained under the NPTC City & Guilds scheme and registered members of NRoSO.

Eastons’ employ a small team of permanent skilled arable staff and use seasonal staff and contractors to assist us during our busiest periods, or when there are specialised tasks to be done. Check our jobs page and Facebook page for upcoming farming job vacancies.

We operate a mix of machinery in common with many contemporary farms, from a Claas combine harvester and Sands Sprayer to JCB Loadalls and Kubota compact machinery for estate maintenance work. Our cultivation work is carried out with Agco tractors: Fendt and Massey Ferguson. Our oldest tractor still in regular use is a 1974 Ford 4000.

Our minimum tillage system is cultivated using a Sumo Trio and Stocks air seeder, whilst Kverneland and Vaderstad ploughing and cultivating equipment fulfill other tillage roles. We use a wide range of different machinery manufacturers’ products, including Bomford, Bunnings, Kane, Kuhn, Monocem, Suton Engineering, Shelbourne Reynolds and Spearhead.

Contract farming

Our farming services are available for contract hire to local growers. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Straw contracting

We offer a local service to purchase and bale straw at harvest time. Our service is grower orientated – as growers ourselves we know how important it is that straw sold to a third party is gathered, baled, stacked and removed as quickly as possible so you can get on with cultivations. We also recognise the value of receiving prompt settlement for produce sold. That’s why we aim to submit purchase advice as soon as possible after harvest, and arrange full payment within 30 days of invoice receipt. We are also able to bale straw intended for your own use. Please contact us if you would like to find out more.

Our straw contracting generates a number of additional farming jobs each harvest. Check our jobs page and Facebook page for upcoming farming job vacancies.

We value the environment we work in and continue to take practical steps to minimize our impact on it. These have included taking part in award winning farm environmental stewardship schemes, planting and managing woodland and hedgerows and adopting more environmentally sustainable technologies and farming methods where practicable. Precision farming technology and minimum tillage soil conservation systems are used to save time, reduce fuel consumption and efficiently regulate the use of seed, pesticides, fertilisers and other valuable inputs into food production.
