The Fleet

Eastons’ operate liquid tankers, straw wagons and bulk tippers from operating centres in East Anglia and the East Midlands. We are proud of our green OCRS score and high levels of operational compliance.

Food grade pumped tanker

The core of the Easton tanker fleet are ex-farm milk tankers. Changing fortunes in the industry have led to a broader book of work, mainly commercial water tanker haulage for the food manufacturing, horticulture, leisure and construction industries. Jobs can arise due to a temporary supply requirement, disruptions to supply, a one-off high volume requirement such as filling a new pool liner, droughts or specialised applications such as transporting deionised water and sea water haulage.

A pumped triaxle water tanker can hold approximately 27,000l; a pumped tandem axle tanker can hold approximately 20,000l of water. Eastons’ have food grade pumped tankers available for haulage hire.

Atmospheric tanker

Atmospheric tanker trailers are designed for optimising payload over long distances by sacrificing the self-loading/unloading abilities of pumped tanks in favour of greater payload capacity. An atmospheric water tanker can hold between 28,500-29,500l of liquid (depending upon the weight of the tractor unit pulling it). Eastons’ have food grade and non-food grade atmospheric tankers available for haulage hire. We are a lower tier registered waste carrier.

Flatbed wagon & drag

A power station specification straw wagon is capable of carrying 36 large Hesston or 48 midi Hesston straw bales over a 3 axle rigid prime mover and 3 axle drawbar trailer. It can also carry other baled products, such as hay and haylage. Plated for 44t, it can carry 8 string ultra-high density bales, as well as 6 string varieties.

Eastons’ fleet of flatbed wagons and long artics use light and fuel efficient 450hp Euro 6 engines. We use DAF CF space cabs equipped with beds, fridges and microwaves to balance weight economies against the needs of our drivers, who will regularly travel over 1,000 miles a week.

Flatbed LST artic

A power station specification Longer Semi Trailer is capable of carrying 36 large Hesston or 48 midi Hesston bales using an extra-long 15.65m flatbed semi-trailer behind a standard tractor unit. LSTs offer a versatile alternative to straw wagons since the tractor unit can pull different types of trailers if required.

TASSC registered bulk tipper

A bulk tipper can carry a wide variety of bulk (unpackaged) goods. Eastons’ tippers are designed to optimise payload capacity, using lighter materials and weight saving design choices where possible. We carry up to 29,400kg of goods per load.

Eastons’ use tipper lorries to transport our own produce: barley, wheat, oats, rapeseed and sugar beet. We have previously operated in the British Sugar Beet Delivery Scheme and hauled for third party customers, but challenging market conditions made it difficult to invest sustainably and be confident of a future in the industry. We took the decision to withdraw from the BDS in 2019 and withdrew from third party haulage in 2020. In 2021 we were invited to place a truck in with a grain customer’s fleet.

Tipper trailers used in agricultural haulage are registered with the Trade Assurance Scheme for Combinable Crops (TASSC). TASSC members must follow a number of conditions of carriage, and TASSC audits its members for compliance. The conditions of carriage are designed to ensure the safety and wholesomeness of bulk food products being transported.
